Making Jesus the Center of Christmas: A Meaningful Advent Tradition
Christmas is my favorite holiday! I love everything about it. I love baking, decorating, crafting, and all the other fun activities that come with the season. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying these things!
But as Christians, we also need to focus on the reason for the season. Especially if you have kids or grandkids, it’s important to teach them why we celebrate Christmas and help them understand the story of Jesus’ birth.
One simple way to do this is with Advent Scripture cards. Reading these Scriptures together helps kids become familiar with the people and events surrounding Jesus’ birth. It also gives you a chance to talk about the Christmas story, answer questions, and help them grow in their understanding of God’s Word.
Taking just a few minutes each day to read these Christmas Advent Scripture Cards for Kids is a simple way to create a meaningful family tradition and keep the focus on Jesus throughout December.
How to Use the Christmas Advent Scripture Cards for Kids
What you’ll need:
- The Christmas Advent Scripture cards for kids
- Cardstock (heavier paper holds up better to daily handling)
- Scissors or a paper trimmer
- A way to display or store them: a basket, a box, a string with clothespins, etc.
What’s in the set:
- 25 numbered cards, one for each day of Advent
- A 7-page PDF with four cards on each page
- US Letter size pages, with each card measuring 4.25 x 5.5 inches
Step 1: Print on cardstock.
Print the PDF at 100% scale on US Letter paper, with no “fit to page” setting, so the cards come out the right size. Print only the pages you need, or all 7.
Step 2: Cut the cards apart.
Each page holds four cards. Cut along the lines with a paper trimmer for clean edges, or use scissors.
Step 3: Put them in order.
Stack the cards from 1 to 25. The numbers make this quick, even for kids.
Step 4: Choose how to display them.
- Clip them to a string with mini clothespins
- Keep them in a basket or box and pull out one each day
- Put each card in its own envelope. The cards fit a standard A2 envelope, so you can seal them for a surprise each morning.
Step 5: Use them each day.
Starting on December 1st, open or flip one card per day. Read it together at breakfast, dinner, or bedtime.
